UK licensing costs to be brought into parity with the Euro countries

As of 1st July Microsoft will hike their wholesale price by an average of 26%. The change is to bring parity between the UK and countries using the Euro.

The price increase will effect Open, Select and Volume licensing and will not effect Charity or Educational pricing. Public Sector pricing will not be increased either, as the Government has negotiated with Microsoft to bring down the price change to less than 5%. Microsoft adjusts its pricing less frequently than other vendors so this net effect after several years of volatile currency fluctuations is more noticeable. As a result of the massive increase in licensing costs come 1st July, Datcom recommends that any licensing requirements for this year are purchased before the change.
